Sustainable intensification of agriculture refers to the process or system in which the agricultural yields are increased without adverse environmental impact and without converting more land area exclusively into agriculture. Proper water management is a key to the sustainable intensification of agriculture. One such measure is rainwater harvesting which promotes water use efficiency and recharges the groundwater table.
